What Does The Algorithm Know About You?


Introduction:
Built for a Career Day presentation, this project turns an abstract concept, "what is an algorithm?", into something students could actually experience rather than just hear about. Instead of lecturing, I built an interactive game that puts students through the same kind of step-by-step decision logic an algorithm follows.


Approach:
Students answer a short series of questions, and the app scores their responses across a set of dimensions in real time, visually building out a personality/interest profile as they go, essentially the algorithm "getting to know" them one input at a time. At the end, their results are mapped to real-life careers that align with their answers, connecting the abstract idea of an algorithm back to something personally relevant: how data-driven decisions show up in everyday tools and, eventually, in their own career paths.


Goal:
The goal was to make data analytics feel tangible and approachable for students seeing it for the first time, showing them both how algorithms work under the hood and how the field could translate into a future career for them.
